Prescriptions, Certificates & Referrals

Important information about how we manage medication, medical documents, and specialist referrals.

Our team is committed to safe, professional care — which includes responsible prescribing, timely referrals, and accurate medical certification. Please read the information below to understand our clinic’s policies on prescriptions, medical certificates, and referrals.

Repeat Prescriptions

In most cases, an appointment is required for repeat prescriptions to ensure safe and appropriate use of medication. This allows your GP to review your condition, check for side effects, and monitor effectiveness.

However, if you have seen your doctor within the last 3 months and your prescription is ongoing, your doctor may issue a repeat without a face-to-face appointment — at their discretion.

Important to Note:

  • Requests may take up to 48 hours to process.

  • A private fee applies for script-only requests, which cannot be claimed from Medicare.

  • If your doctor needs to see you, reception will contact you, and you will not be charged for the repeat script request

  • Certain medications (e.g. antibiotics, opioids, benzodiazepines) always require an appointment.

Medical Certificates

Need a Certificate for Work or School?

Medical certificates can only be issued when you are seen by a GP — either in person or via telehealth. Certificates cannot be backdated, so please book your appointment as soon as possible if you’re unwell.

Types of certificates we provide:

  • Sick leave certificates

  • Carer’s leave certificates

  • School/university absence certificates

  • Fit-to-work assessments

Repeat Referrals

Specialist Referrals and Renewals

Patients who have known standing arrangements for referrals to specialists (e.g. annual referral to dermatologist for skin check), can request repeat referrals online without the need to see or speak with their GP. (however, you must have visited your GP within the last 12 months).

An in-person appointment is still required for referral requests for radiology, pathology, psychology/mental health care plans or allied health providers.

Referrals cannot be backdated, so please allow time before your appointment with the specialist.

Need to Book?

To request a prescription, certificate, or referral, please contact our reception or book an appointment online. We’re here to support your health the right way — professionally, ethically, and with care.
